| In the
UK and Europe, recumbents have become part of the bicycling landscape.
Whilst still an almost bewildering range of models, the design free-for-all
that followed their re-emergence has somewhat stabilised to concentrate
on utility and sport use. The former have become remarkably sophisticated
with suspension and good carrying systems. For sport and performance
use, the tendency has been towards very low designs which can be intimidating
for normal road use. There seems almost to have been a positive move
away from the classic simple, efficient ethos that characterises fine
high performance bicycles. And that is where Bacchetta come from. Deceptively simple, lightweight designs that show a direct lineage to the supreme efficiency of the traditional road bike.
