| Tandems are
not for everyone, but they can considerably enhance the cycling experience
whilst offering a solution to some of the difficulties that couples have
cycling together. For those to whom they appeal, there is the potential to share a journey in a much more intimate way. No longer is one desperately panting to keep up with another who is gritting their teeth to ride slowly. The moments that make up a trip are experienced together and can be communicated without shouting across an impenetrable distance. For the right people, that all makes sense, but traditional tandems are big and bulky and simply not so convenient to use. Bernds recognize that and by using small wheels and a low (or very low) step-over height, have made a tandem that is compact and also very easy to mount and ride. Even with small wheels a tandem is larger than a single, but Bernds have also incorporated a folding rear end and demountable handlebars to further reduce the size and especially facilitate transportation. |
